Mr. Troy A. Walton,

Mr. Walton began his career in 2002 when he joined Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a Math Teacher at Bayside High Bayside High School & Health Sciences Academy. He held this position for eight years before moving to Salem Middle School to continue teaching math. In 2013, Mr. Walton became a Math Specialist at Bayside Middle School for one year. The following year, he was promoted to the administrative ranks at Bayside Middle School, serving as the Dean of Students from 2014 to 2017. Mr. Walton then transitioned to Plaza Middle School as an Assistant Principal for two years. In July 2019, Mr. Walton returned to Bayside High School as an Assistant Principal.  In July 2021, Mr. Walton was appointed as Principal of Bayside High School.

Mr. Walton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Virginia Wesleyan University and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University.




Mr. David C. Brown, Assistant Principal

In 2010, Mr. Brown left the private sector, where he worked in media marketing and circulation operations to pursue his passion for education and mentoring. He began his formal education career in 2011, working for South Eastern Cooperative Educational Programs (SECEP) in their Autism Spectrum Program. Mr. Brown later transitioned to Virginia Beach City Public Schools, working at Tallwood High School as their Special Education Cognitive Development teacher and varsity soccer coach. He later transferred to the Technical and Career Center to work as their Special Education Access teacher. While at the Technical and Career Center, Mr. Brown was accepted into the VBCPS LEAD Aspiring Administrators program. In 2020, he joined the Administrative team at Virginia Beach Middle School as their Administrative Assistant.

Mr. Brown completed his secondary education at Jamaica College in St. Andrew, Jamaica. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with a minor in Politics from Oral Roberts University and dual Masters in Counseling and Education from Liberty University. In addition, Mr. Brown has a Post-Master's Certificate in Education Leadership and Administration from George Washington University and is passionate about servant leadership. He was named the Technical and Career Center Distinguish Educator (2018) and  Teacher of the Year (2020). Mr. Brown is also a VDOE, Creating Excellence Awardee (2016) due to his strong advocacy of workplace readiness programs for students. 



Dr. Sally Jarvis-Lubbe, Assistant Principal

Dr. Jarvis began her career in 2010 at University High School in Orlando, Florida. She served as a program assistant for the in-school suspension program, special education program and was a behavior trainer at Stone Lakes Elementary School. From 2012-2014, she taught secondary special education and general education English at University High School.

In 2014, Dr. Jarvis moved to California and taught special education for three years at Diamond Bar High School. In 2017, she became an assistant principal at Chino High School. In 2018, Dr. Jarvis became the site administrator for the alternative education program in the Orland Unified School District and later became the Assistant Principal at Orland High School. Dr. Jarvis joined the Bayside Administrative team in July of 2021.

Dr. Jarvis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Sociology from the University of Central Florida. Additionally, she has a Master of Science in Educational Administration and Doctorate in Educational Administration from California State University, Fullerton.



Mrs. Terry L. Mejia, Health Sciences Academy Coordinator

Mrs. Mejia began her career in 1989 when she joined Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a Math Teacher  at Bayside Junior High School (now Bayside Middle School), a position she held for 9 years before moving to the field of School Counseling in 1998.  Mrs. Mejia has served as a School Counselor at both Bayside Middle and Bayside High School.  In 2011, she was appointed Acting Coordinator for the Health Sciences Academy.  After returning to her Counseling position for a year in 2012, Mrs. Mejia officially joined the Bayside High School administrative team in July of 2013 when she was appointed Health Sciences Academy Coordinator.

Mrs. Mejia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Virginia Tech University, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Old Dominion University and a Post Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration from the George Washington University.



Mr. Todd Sherman, Assistant Principal





Ms. Teri Tucker, Assistant Principal 

Ms. Tucker began her career in education in 2000 in Corpus Christi, TX. She has taught English from 6th to 12th grade in Ohio, Texas, Michigan, and Virginia. In 2004, she moved to Virginia and taught at Lakeland High School in Suffolk where she later took over as the Athletics and Activities Director. In 2012, Ms. Tucker returned to the classroom, shifting to Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA. There, she taught English 9 and 11, working with AVID, and serving in the Freshman Transition program. She has coached many sports over the years including: girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, golf, tennis, swimming, track and field, field hockey, and boys volleyball through the Spring of 2021. In 2016, Ms. Tucker joined the administration ranks in Virginia Beach as the Secondary English Coordinator in the Department of Teaching and Learning. She was appointed as assistant principal of Bayside High School in August of 2021.

Ms. Tucker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Communications from Kent State University in Ohio. Additionally, she has a Master of Arts in Sports Management–Exercise Science from Western Michigan University. She earned her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University.



Ms. Lisa L. Corprew, Student Activities Coordinator

Ms. Corprew began her career in 1995 when she returned to her Alma Mater, Bayside High School as a teacher assistant. Before assuming her current role, Ms. Corprew served in additional positions, such as Adaptive Health/PE Teacher, JV Girls’ Basketball, and Varsity Softball Coach.  Ms. Corprew joined the Bayside High School administrative team in July of 1999 when she was appointed Student Activities Coordinator.

Ms. Corprew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from East Carolina University and earned her Certification in Athletic Administration in 2009.  Ms. Corprew was named Athletic Administrator of the Year (2013) and received the State Award of Merit in 2014 from the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (VIAAA).  Ms. Corprew served as the VIAAA President for one complete term in 2014.  Ms. Corprew is currently serving as a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Publications Committee, which is responsible for the production of the IAA magazine, a national publication for athletic directors.



Ms. Nancy S. Grimstead, School Improvement Specialist

Ms. Grimstead began her career in 1985 when she joined Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a Business Education Teacher at Green Run High School, a position she held before moving to Landstown High School in 2001 in the same capacity.  Ms. Grimstead joined the Bayside High School administrative team in August 2013 as the School Improvement Specialist.

Ms. Grimstead holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education from Longwood University, and a Master of Arts degree in Education Administration and Supervision from the George Washington University.



Ms. Jacqueline M. Mayo, School Counseling Department Chair

Ms. Mayo began her career in education in 2009 as a School Counselor in the Newport News School District.  Prior to that, Ms. Mayo served as a Recreational Specialist II for the City of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation.  Ms. Mayo continued her career when she joined the Bayside High School administrative team in September of 2017 as the School Counseling Department Chair.

Ms. Mayo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Science degree in Education from Old Dominion University.
