Attendance

• These forms must be filled out if your child is going to be out longer than three (3) days. Examples include vacation, going out of the country, activity. These absences are not guaranteed to be excused.
• If your child is on a college visit – make sure you receive a letter from the college admissions office (email confirmation is also accepted).

All students entering the building after 7:35 and not on a late bus must sign in on the QR code and go to the attendance window for an e-hall pass. Any student arriving after 7:35 is considered absent.

• There will be no early dismissal after 1:50 PM unless there is an emergency.
• All early release notifications need to be emailed to Baysidehsattendance@vbschools.com either the night before or no later than 7:20 AM. The attendance office will reply to the email notifying the parent/guardian that an e-hall pass has been entered. The person picking up the student will not need to enter the building. Students will have an e-hall pass entered in the system for the time they need to leave. They will need to sign out on the QR code at the front security desk or the attendance window before leaving the building.
• If the email is received after 7:20 AM there is no guarantee the attendance office will see the email in a timely fashion, and the person picking the student up will have to come into the building.
• The attendance office doesn’t take any attendance over the phone. If you are calling for an early release, please call the main office 757.648.5200 as an administrator will have to approve the early release.
• Make sure you have all emergency contacts listed. This will make the process run smoothly if your child needs to be picked up early due to an emergency. If the person picking up your child is not on the list, we must call to confirm, thus delaying the pickup process.
• Students (If 18 years or older only) If you need to leave the building for an appt, make sure you turn in your note or email Stephanie Dorsett via Canvas either the night before or no later 7:20 AM that way the attendance office can enter your e-hall pass. The attendance office will reply once the pass has been entered. You must sign out on the QR code. You are not permitted to leave the building to get lunch.
• If any student leaves the building and returns, please sign back in using the QR code under “Return” and stop by the attendance window for your pass back to class.
